One of Loudoun Composting's most popular products was their SoilMate compost. As a certified compost, it was great for enriching soil and promoting healthy plant growth. At Freestate Farms, we also offer a certified and local compost, called Grow Good Compost. Most of our compost will contain food scraps in it, in addition to the local yard waste that Loudoun Composting used, as this can provide additional macro- and micro-nutrients to garden plants, grass, trees and shrubs. We can, however, create a yard waste compost that does not contain food scraps, if you have a job that has specifications for a (Leaf) Yard Waste Compost. Both of our Tilling and Topdressing Composts are carefully composted using our state-of-the-art facility to create a nutrient-rich soil amendment.
In addition to compost, Loudoun Composting also sold leaf mulch, called Karbon Leaf Mulch. Mulch is an important addition to any garden, as it helps suppress weeds, retain moisture, and regulate soil temperature. At Freestate Farms, we offer a variety of natural mulch products, including our Grow Good Leaf Mulch that, like Loudoun Composting, is made from municipal leaf collection programs. Not only does a leaf mulch provide the traditional benefits of a garden mulch, but it also breaks down more quickly throughout the season to return nutrients to the garden’s soil.
